Bahariya Oasis

It is one of the oases of the Western Desert in Egypt, belonging to the Giza Governorate, and is located 365 kilometers southwest of Giza. It is connected to Giza and Greater Cairo by the Cairo-Bahariya Desert Road. It lies in a depression covering an area of ​​more than 2,000 square meters. Its center is the city of Bawiti.
The coastal oases are famous among tourists from Central, Western and Northern Europe who come to them for healing, especially in the area of ​​Ain Bir Halfa with its warm waters that reach a temperature of 45 degrees Celsius, and the area of ​​Ain Al-Qas’ah (40-30 degrees Celsius), and the areas of the historical Roman wells and the famous Bir Al-Bashmu, which draws its water from two sources, one cold and the other hot, that end in one deep rocky stream. The Bahariya Oasis is part of the Giza Governorate and is located 365 kilometers from Giza City.
The oasis is famous for its numerous sulfur springs and wells, numbering up to 398, with temperatures ranging from 30 to 70 degrees Celsius.
Among the most well-known are the springs of Ain Hakima and Ain al-Halfa in Bawiti, which are believed to treat skin diseases and alleviate the symptoms of lupus. These natural springs contain the highest sulfur content compared to other springs worldwide, in addition to various minerals and therapeutically valuable minerals such as sodium carbonate, magnesium, and iron. They also have a moderate salinity. The sands, which are relatively dry, are believed to treat rheumatism and contain important elements that aid in the treatment of several diseases, including rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, and spinal pain.
