Marsa Alam

is an Egyptian tourist city located in the Red Sea Governorate. It is a relatively new city, having begun its development in 1995 through investments by the Kuwaiti Al-Kharafi Group, which undertook the construction of the city with all its facilities, resorts, and infrastructure. This has made Marsa Alam one of Egypt’s most attractive tourist destinations. The city covers an area of 38,433 square kilometers, located 274 kilometers south of Hurghada and 134 kilometers south of Quseir, at an elevation of approximately 60 meters above sea level. It has a population of about 11,497, mostly from the Ababda and Bishari tribes, and includes three villages: Bernice, Abu Hassan Al-Shazly, and Abu Ghosoun. The city is a world-class center for fishing, diving, and boat trips. It also boasts an international airport, a marina for yachts, a conference center, and a variety of luxury hotels and resorts. Gold mining is also active in the surrounding desert at the Sukari gold mine.

Natural and Tourist Attractions: Marsa Alam is considered one of the most beautiful diving spots in Egypt and the world, and a favorite destination for safari enthusiasts. It boasts a unique collection of islands, including Zabargad Island, Khawar Island, Rocky Island, and Shihab Al-Fuston. The area also features a range of unique mountains and valleys, as well as a collection of ancient mines that were excavated in the surrounding mountains in search of gold and emeralds. The shrine of Sheikh Abu al-Hasan al-Shadhili, a center of cultural and religious influence, is also located there.
