Al-Jarbi Tourist Area
This area is considered a tourist destination blessed with unique characteristics and features rarely found elsewhere. It is one of the first natural therapy areas in Egypt, renowned since ancient times for its dry sands containing thyme, a substance used to treat rheumatic diseases. The area also boasts numerous casinos overlooking the Nile, attracting those who enjoy swimming and relaxing in the river.
The area is named “Al-Jarbi” after Sheikh Al-Jarbi, a Sufi sheikh. Located south of Ras El Bar, it now serves as the city’s main entrance.
Dozens of families from Damietta Governorate and neighboring governorates flock to Al-Jarbi, especially on Fridays, holidays, and festivals, to spend the day swimming, enjoying rowing boat rides, and taking Nile cruises back and forth between Al-Jarbi and Al-Lisan, as well as fishing.
Ras El Bar isn’t just about beaches. The famous El Garby area, overlooking the Nile, is a popular destination for leisure and recreation. Historically, it was a place for relaxation and sand therapy, and now it offers swimming in the Nile, fishing, rowing, and Nile cruises from El Garby to the Al Lisan area and back.
El Garby is one of Ras El Bar’s most distinctive areas, boasting dozens of fully-serviced casinos and several clubs, including those for the police, engineers, wisdom, and judges. This area is a haven for relaxation, recreation, fishing, and swimming, and is beloved by many vacationers.
